About Me:

Lee Christopher is a native and (mostly) lifetime Southern California resident who began railroad modeling as a pre- teen with his father’s help and built a few small, simple and relatively non-descript HO model railroads in his parent’s garage in the 1960’s. College, graduate school, an engineering career in the aerospace industry and marriage intervened until a trip to the local library for some recreational reading resurrected those railroading interests with a borrowed copy of Robert Hanft’s now classic “Pine Across the Mountain – California’s McCloud River Railroad”. A 1995 vacation visit to the fascinating Mt Shasta area revealed a modern backwoods short line railroad with irresistible charm. A first attempt at modeling this unique railroad in a small bedroom of a rental house was followed by the current layout project begun in late 2003 once a permanent home for he, his train tolerant wife Diane and daughter Sarah had been purchased and renovated. In addition to modeling the McCloud, Lee is also enjoys spending time as a member of the Los Angeles Model Railroad Society. Lee is a Senior Project Engineer for The Aerospace Corporation.
